Leader of a strategic communications firm focused on major companies, significant projects, small business and non-profit organizations. Assembled and currently manage a team of professionals from multiple disciplines that focus on public relations, community outreach, client management and political communication. A key component of this success is crafting communications plans with messages that are the simplest to comprehend and impassion people to take action while building a proactive message. In an ever-changing field like public relations, command of new media strategies and staying uniquely connected to reporters in the traditional media has been essential to success.

Strategic communications sectors managed include: health care, sports, non-profit organizations, small businesses, trade associations, telecom and mixed-use development. New Media/Web clients include a major West Coast Newspaper and several political organizations and candidates.

VICE PRESIDENT – STOREFRONT PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Led the team in crafting strategic communications and political strategies for major projects and Fortune 500 companies. Role ranged from being the primary spokesperson and creator of the overall media and political blueprint to strategizing and developing atypical business relationships that add value to a project. The key principle at Storefront was to always find the way to help advance the needs of the client. Specialized in development and arena/stadium projects.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR – THE MILLS CORPORATION

Primary company representative responsible for The Mills Corporation’s first urban, mixed-use project located on the San Francisco Bay. Responsibilities included coordination of construction, leasing and design elements with an overall focus on maintaining fiscal responsibility while delivering the premier recreation/retail and office complex in the United States. Overall budget responsibility of $225,000,000 and lead negotiator with the San Francisco Port, City Board of Supervisors as well as community groups and political figures.

DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

Directed the overall message and communications at the corporate and developing projects level for the fastest growing Real Estate Investment Trust in the country. Coordinated communications for seven projects in five states, Canada and Spain totaling over $3.5 billion of development for the company. Duties included: All media queries, manage and develop messages and direct numerous public relations firms; Function as the primary spokesperson on these developments and for the company; Directed media relations for Mills’ CEO and Chairman and other members of Executive Management, and; Coordinate web development and all print materials for the company.

VICE PRESIDENT OF GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC AFFAIRS – NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS UNITED

Directed the political and public affairs for the oldest national small business advocacy organization. Coordinated legislative strategies from development through implementation, as well as oversaw NSBU communications strategies and functions. A key function of the job was to coordinate the advocacy message with the public relations efforts.

DIRECTOR OF FEDERAL AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS

Directed the federal affairs of the Institute. Administered multi-faceted projects and information, including organization and execution of grassroots campaigns, and coalition building and maintenance, for all federal regulatory and legislative issues for the national trade association.

STAFF ASSISTANT – CHAMBERS OF JUSTICE STEVENS

Integral member of the six person staff. Responsible for the filing of all certiorari petitions and the various briefs for argued cases, personal assistant to the Justice, and general office duties; edited Law Clerk’s original versions of Justice Stevens’ opinions, and research for the Clerks.
